Frequently Asked Questions

What is PACT?
Police Agency Combined Testing (PACT) is a cooperative effort by the police departments in Colleyville, Euless, Hurst, Keller, North Richland Hills and Southlake to recruit the most qualified police officer applicants. One test allows you to pursue a career with six police departments.

When is the next PACT test?
PACT conducts preliminary testing at least twice each year. The next test date will be administered on Saturday, May 5th, 2012. Pre-applications must be post marked no later than midnight April 27th, 2012 to allow participation in the test process.

Are any positions open?
All participating agencies hire from the list created from each PACT test. The hiring agency refers to this list whenever a position becomes available. It is difficult to predict when any openings will be available in the future.

What are the requirements to be eligible to take the PACT test?
The requirements are posted here: http://www.pacttest.com/Default.aspx

Do I have to already be a police officer to apply?
No. All participating police departments will send recruits to the police academy if needed.

Will P.A.C.T. agencies accept my out-of-state police officer license?
These situations will be reviewed by the hiring agency on a case by case basis. You might be required to attend a Texas academy. For more information on getting certification in Texas based on an out-of-state license, see the TCLEOSE Web site at: http://www.tcleose.state.tx.us/Public%20Notice/eligwarning.htm

Are there any exemptions for the 30 college hour requirement?
Colleyville, Euless, Keller, North Richland Hills and Southlake have exemptions for police experience. North Richland Hills has additional exemptions for certain military service. Please visit the agency's page or contact these departments for additional information.

Do I have to have completed 30 college hours to take the test?
Yes

What do I need to do to sign up for the PACT test?
First, make sure you meet the minimum requirements. Then, fill out the PACT Pre-Application, print it, and mail it to:
P.A.C.T.
c/o North Richland Hills Police Department
7301 NE Loop 820
North Richland Hills TX. 76180

What happens after I mail the Pre-Application?
You will get confirmation of your registration, along with additional instructions, in the mail, email, or by telephone from PACT.

What does the Physical Assessment consist of?
The requirements are listed at the bottom of the main page. Pushups must be performed military style. You may stop to rest only in the up position. Sit-ups are performed with knees bent and arms behind the neck or crossed across the chest. The pushups and sit-ups are performed first.

Do I have to apply with ALL PACT agencies?
No. If you decline to pursue a position when an agency invites you, you will be marked off the list for that agency. You would, however, still be on the list for the other agencies.
