Must meet the minimum standards for initial licensure as set
by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education,
including: |

| A. |
Must not be under indictment for any criminal offense. |
| B. |
Must never have been convicted of a family violence
offense of any grade. |
| C. |
Must not have been on court ordered community
supervision or probation for any criminal offense of the grade of Class
B misdemeanor or above (or equivalent), within the last ten (10) years.
This includes deferred adjudication. |
| D. |
Must not be prohibited by state or federal law from
possessing a firearm or ammunition. |

| 2. |
Must not be wanted by any Law Enforcement Agency at the time
of application. |
| 3. |
Must have never had a license issued by any state law
enforcement regulatory commission denied by final order, revoked, voluntarily
surrendered or suspended. |
| 4. |
Must not have been discharged under less than Honorable
conditions if the applicant served in the military. Hurst requires an
Honorable Discharge. |
| 5. |
Must be twenty-one (21) years of age at testing. |
| 6. |
Must be of good moral character. |
| 7. |
Must have had a stable employment history. |
| 8. |
Must not have been dismissed, or resigned while under
investigation, from the public service for inefficiency, delinquency, or
misconduct. |
| 9. |
Must not have admitted to the commission of, or ever been
convicted of a felony or of any crime involving moral turpitude. |
| 10. |
No illegal drug usage twenty-four (24) months prior to
testing, show no trace of drug dependency after a physical examination,
blood test, or other medical test. Any illegal drug usage beyond twenty-four
(24) months will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. |
| 11. |
Must have vision correctable to 20/20 and free of color
blindness. Additional requirements for Euless. |
| 12. |
Must have hearing equivalence of 15-15. |
| 13. |
Must appear at all scheduled examinations and interviews. |
| 14. |
Must provide PACT with any change of address or telephone
number and must return telephone calls. |
| 15. |
Must successfully complete an examination by a licensed
polygraph examiner chosen by the department. |
| 16. |
Must possess a current, valid Texas driver's license or have
the ability to obtain one. |
| 17. |
Must have a driving record that reflects no more than three
(3) moving violations/or preventable accidents, or any combination in the
last thirty- six (36) months. Beyond thirty-six (36) months will be
considered on case-by-case bases. |
| 18. |
Must have made application in the manner prescribed in the
application packet and filed the application within the required time
limits. |
| 19. |
Must not have made any false statement or deliberate
omission in any material fact, or practiced, or attempted to practice any
deception or fraud in his application, examination, or appointment. |
| 20. |
Must successfully pass all required tests, examinations and
interviews. |
| 21. |
Must have a minimum of sixty (60) hours of college for Hurst or
thirty (30) hours for Euless and North Richland Hills, with a minimum of a 2.0
cumulative grade point average or higher on a 4.0 scale. The college hours must
be from a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education
recognized accredited college or university. The college hours must be completed
by the test date. Euless
and North Richland Hills may waive the college requirement for applicants who
have two years police officer experience with the same department immediately
prior to completing application. |
